Brent Summers - Owner, Operator, Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer

Brent_Summers.jpg

Brent Summers is a Logan County native that grew up on a farm learning the value of hard work. As a teen Brent would stay with his grandparents frequently who lived in the funeral home. It was evident very soon that funeral service was the career path that he wanted to pursue. In 1993 he enrolled in Mid America College of Mortuary Science where he graduated in 1994 and successfully passed his National Board exams. For the next 20 years, Brent would work in his community with a great emphasis on community involvement and public relations. Brent believes a lot of becoming successful is establishing relationships. In 2010 Brent approached Kevin Kirby about partnering in the acquisition of Sanders Funeral Home. In March of that same year the purchase was made and sights were quickly set on the building of a new facility. This funeral home was the first ever in Logan County to be originally constructed as a funeral home. The families love the décor of our building and Brent's goal is to exceed the expectations of every family we serve. Brent is married to Nancy and they have 2 children and 2 grandchildren, which they love spending time with.

Kevin R. Kirby was born and raised in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He is the son of J.C & Ernestine Kirby. He is the third of six children. At the young age of seven Kevin would follow his father, J.C., to work knowing at such an early age he wanted to follow in his father's footsteps to become a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1974 and then went onto mortuary school. He graduated from the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science in Louisville in 1979 and the same day of graduation he drove with his wife, Lynn, back to Bowling Green to begin work that day. Kevin and Lynn bought the funeral home from J.C. in 1986 and embarked upon an ambitious remodeling project to the existing Broadway Avenue chapel and eventually expanded by opening the Lovers Lane chapel and cemetery in 1997 to serve the growing area of Warren County. He and his wife continue to work and strive to meet the needs of the families they serve with hope, dedication, and care.

In 2010 Brent Summers and Kevin, purchased Sanders Funeral Home as co-owners to supply the citizens of Logan County with a funeral home to meet all their needs. As the business began to grow, they had a vision of a new up to date facility. In October of 2013 they moved into the current location of Summers, Kirby and Sanders Funeral Home, providing our families with the newest technology available, yet with the warmth of home.
